Song Fa Bak Kut Teh

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh was founded in 1969 with a pushcart stall, and now it has 7 outlets located all over Singapore. Song Fa still believes in bringing dinners an original Bak Kut Teh dining experience and the heritage of good old Bak Kut Teh in its truest sense.

It's Bak Kut Teh consists of tender pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and peppery spices. However, there is no strong herb taste in the soup but a clear peppery and garlicky taste instead.  There is unlimited soup refill so it will definitely give you full and hearty meal ! I will recommend the soup to go with their home made fried bread stick. Dip the fried bread stick into the soup, the soup will balance out the greasiness of the bread stick, it is a perfect match!

The pork rib was flavourful and tender and at a point where it was still just about to detach itself from the bone; it is not quite pliable where it became difficult to eat.

Just one more tip, the stores are usually full and a lot of people queueing outside during the peak hours (lunch and dinner time). So if you don’t want to wait, try to avoid the peak hours.

The Banana Leaf Apolo

If you're looking for a good place to try indian food in Singapore, the Banana Leaf Apolo is probably the place you're trying to find. Popular with local Singaporeans, the restaurant has an excellent selection of Indian favorites. Meals are served in a traditional setting - on a banana leaf instead of a plate. This restaurant is mainly famous for their curry fish head and chicken bryani, the portion is big and it is spicy and has a strong flavour in it. Other than that, they also serve very nice butter chicken curry too. The curries and sambals, the fish and seafood as well as the vegetarian dishes - all are marvelous, flavorful experiences at a reasonable price.

CUT by Wolfgang Puck is the celebrity chef's modern take on the American steakhouse and is widely acclaimed to be one of the best premium steaks available in Singapore. The meat is so tenderly fresh and juicy which provides a memorable experience while dining here. Understandably, premium steak comes at an equally premium price. It's not something people will eat on a frequent basis, but for celebratory occasions it is worth spending money on.

Chilli Padi Nonya Restaurant

Since the early 90’s, this restaurant has been around and is well known to be one of the best Peranakan food places in Singapore. “Peranakans” generally refer to people of mixed Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage. Needless to say, their cuisine also involves a special blend of Chinese and Malay tastes and flavours with the use of strong herbs, chilies and their buah keluak. If you're looking for a place to get authentic and delicious Peranakan cuisine, this is the place for you to dine in.

Some of the famous must try dish here are; ayam buah keluak, ayam curry fish head and Ngoh Hiang (Five spices prawn roll).

Ayam buah keluak - Buah Keluak looks like a black hard shell nut and tastes like a truffle nut. This is one of the iconic dishes in the Peranakan food heritage and an important gauge to seal the culinary skills of a good Peranakan chef.
