THE BUTTER FACTORY

Just four years since its inception, the Butter Factory located at the Fullerton, is recognised as one of the popular night spots in Singapore.

The Butter Factory is popular for spinning R & B and hip hop music. Great parties are held on regular basis. International disc jockeys from Japan, the United States, Hong Kong and other countries are brought in to light up the dance floors.

Through the years the Butter Factory has built up a great base for the young crowd. The Bump Hall spins hip-hop and R & B music. The Fash spins electronic music and alternative rock. But the uniqueness of this club lies in its indoor comic graffiti drawn by world famous illustrators, graffiti masters and cartoon writers.

You can dressed up in all kinds of strange interesting outfits and enjoy the musical carnival. There is the signatory popular drink where potent liqueurs are mixed with iced tea. Another popular drink is the peanut butter wine.

The creators and founders of this wonderful club are a pair of good friends who are in their mid-thirties. One is a lawyer, Youyan Zheng who had spent some of her academic years in Britain. And the other is Shu-Chen Chang who had graduated from NTU's Department of Communication Studies. During their younger school days, they frequented clubs and tea dances which eventually led to their idea of starting their own club.（■Singapore360°）

The Long Bar

When you are in Singapore, there is one place where you have to go, just to taste the Singapore Sling. It is none other than the world famous Raffles Hotel where this legendary drink is born. Naturally the Singapore Sling is the signatory drink here; whether it is the tourists and the shutterbugs, or the businessmen in their expensive suits or the expatriates working on sunny Singapore, they all come in droves to taste the drink, and they get to keep the glass too. Like all other places with traditions, the Long Bar has a tradition where Tradition the peanut shells are thrown on the floor.

In 1915, the Singapore Sling was created by a Hainanese Chinese Bartender called Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon. Actually the Singapore Sling was supposed to be a Ladies' drink and hence the attractive pink color. Over times and most fortunately, the Singapore Sling has become a drink which is to be enjoyed by everyone.

Recipe of Singapore Sling:
30ml Gin
15ml Cherry Heering
7.5ml Dom Benedictine
7.5ml Cointreau
120ml Sarawak Pineapple Juice
15ml Lime Juice
10ml grenadine
A dash of Angostura Bitters
Gamish with a slice of Pineapple and Cherry
