Meta

Dining at Meta is like a play with the senses and palate. Revamped and moved to Keong Saik Road last year, it has a bigger space now and they made use of the earth colors as the main color tones which gives off a simple yet classy dining ambience. The restaurant integrated the concept of infusing Asian tastes into traditional French cuisines using seasonal ingredients. Sun Kim, who is the chef-owner of Meta, decided to strike out on his own three years ago and worked his way up from a shaky start to star status by the second year of the Michelin Guide.

At present, the restaurant offers a choice of three set dinner menus, namely five-and seven-course Tasting Menus and a five-course Vegetarian Menu. All menus will change according to the seasons. Do visit their website before you head down to the restaurant to have an expectation.

Here are some of the featured dishes throughout the different season menus.

With a top-up for wine-pairing, your whole dining experience would elevate to another level of pleasure. Highly recommended if you do enjoy some wine with food.
It's not difficult to see why this Michelin-starred spot along Keong Saik Road is highly beloved by the foodie community – the digs are spacious, the ambience is welcoming, and the food is no doubt fantastic.

Previously located at One-North, the iconic Chinese restaurant Min Jiang has moved to Dempsey Hill recently. With the new location also comes with a brand new menu, which includes some of the signature dishes.

Designed by architect Ernesto Bedmar, the beautifully designed new space at Dempsey’s is warm, airy and effortlessly brings the outdoors in with the floor-to-ceiling windows. The matte gold accessories and designs with light bamboo wood furniture brings out a mellow luxury feel.

With the modern culture of “the camera eats first”, the dishes are all presented in a photos-worthy manner. Just look at the steamed prawn dumpling shaped like a darling goldfish swimming in an egg white sauce that taste as good as its plating.

The deluxe dim sum platter is a palate party and includes four unique creations (two of each) – meaty prawns and scallops, a pretty blue pea truffle vegetable, crabmeat, prawn and vegetable one shaped like a manta ray and a sweet deep-fried glutinous rice one crafted to look like the perfect golden pumpkin.

A good long four hours broth to produce the precious braided sea treasure Sri Lankan crab meat soup, there is a parcel in it waiting to be unwrapped. Covered by a thin egg white crepe and stocked with Australian abalone, chopped bamboo pith and dried scallops. This dish is served on a hot plate with a long prawn and chicken spring roll.

If you’re a Sichuan food lover, you have to try this dish. The deep-fried pork knuckle is brined in water with Sichuan white and black peppercorns for two whole days. Followed by two hours of steam baked and two more hours of roasting. There is no doubt why the skin is so crispy when one dish takes such effort.

This is the dish that you will see on almost every table. The stewed egg noodle with local lobster is topped with a fragrant oil that’s fried with shallots, chicken broth, oyster sauce and dark soya sauce creating something that’s comforting.

“There’s always room for desserts” Hell yes! Min Jiang’s desserts will set you with the perfect ending. Nothing spells modern presentation much like a complex dessert complete with steaming dry ice. Chilled blue pea lemongrass jelly with lime sorbet & Malay cake with salted egg custard is a two-part platter you can see coming from afar. Sweet and sour with bubble tea pearls, this cold jelly dessert is a stark contrast to the warm Malay cake that’s layered with salted egg paste.
